I am a Graduate from the University of LaVerne. Over the past ten years, I have worked as a 1st, 2nd , and 3rd grade teacher, a Reading Intervention Specialist, a preschool teacher/program manager for students with special needs, and most recently a Kindergarten teacher. Along with my multiple subject clear credentials, I have training in Special Populations, teaching students with special needs along the Autism Spectrum; I am EL certified, and ProAct trained. I enjoy family activities as well as teaching young people. I strongly believe in getting to know my students to better meet their needs. I think it is imperative to be available to my students and their families at all times. My teaching style is very proactive. I am organized, flexible, patient, and very understanding. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, gardening, working puzzles, photography, animals, and spending time with my children. Teaching isn’t just a job for me, it’s my passion.
I started at General Shafter School in January, 2001 as an Instructional Aide. I am now in my third year as the First Grade teacher, after spending one year as the Second Grade teacher. Working at a small school like GSS has many benefits, but one of my favorites is the feeling of family among the staff and students. I have many fond memories of current and past staff members, as well as former students who have gone on – some even coming back to teach at GSS! I probably have one of the few jobs where once a year I can call in and say I’m running late because I’m stuck in a herd of sheep and they know I’m telling the truth. General Shafter School is a wonderful place to teach and I wouldn’t want to be any place else!
Welcome to Third Grade!
What an amazing journey we get to embark on together! You will not believe how much your child will grow this year. I have so much planned and I can’t wait to get to know you and your family. Our class DoJo page is a great resource to stay informed about what is going on in our class. Information such as announcements, classroom events and links can all be found there.
All About Me:
This year marks my 5th year in education. I attended the University of Laverne for my Undergraduate Degree and Point Loma Nazarene University for my California Teaching Credential. I have loved every moment of this journey! My heart is truly happy in the classroom. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years and we have an amazing little boy named Clayton. We love to spend time with family, friends, travel and watch the Dodgers!
